Hi all,
Apparently Tawny Fish Owl has been recorded in Cat Ba National Park only very recently. A picture was taken by a camera trap inside a langur cave (photo credits - Rick Passaro / Cat Ba Langur Conservation Programme).
Interesting record as I think.
That adds a bit of specialty to the usual crows, kites and rock thrushes.
Cheers,
Maybe a stupid question : why are you sure it is Tawny Fish Owl and not Brown or Buffy FO ?

it can only be tawny because of the markings on the forehead and breast. We could also retrace the size of the bird by comparing it to parameters in the cave. It is bigger than Buffy (which is out of range anyway) and Brown. Very interesting, I think!
